The Changing World

To everything there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Used to be river now its filled with lahar from 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo volcano.Taken on my way to Subic on April 2009, while in a moving vehicle. (Along SCTEX after North Expressway, between Pampanga and Zambales, 110 km. North of Manila).

"Whosoever wishes to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details. Knowledge is not intelligence. In searching for the truth be ready for the unexpected. Change alone is unchanging. The same road goes both up and down. The beginning of a circle is also its end.Not I, but the world says it: all is one.And yet everything comes in season. " Heraclitus of Ephesus

Wow, Regina, I've never "met" anyone who experienced a volcano eruption. Is this in the area where you live? Thanks for an interesting post. Bless you.

The only time I read about the eruption of Mt Pinatubo was when I read Bryce Courtney's "April Fools".

It would add a tad of history if you have added that this is the mountain where our beloved late President Ramon Magsaysay died on a plane crash. Thanks for the sentiment in posting this photo.

Very dramatic sky and fierce looking water! Very moody, too...

Wow..I must of missed this. So a lahar is like a mudslide that comes from the volcano..and I live on an Island with an active one! Fact I'm sitting on it! I heard about that one.
That quote was really cool too-

It's fun that you photograph from the car, I do to, else I could park because there are constantly motives averywhere! Is your favourite philosopher Heraklit? He actually inspire my "inner self". Have a great day!

So this was taken in NLEX? Never noticed. :-) That looks like a mighty river. i remember crossing rivers when I trekked to the crater, good thing nothing as mighty as what you captured. :-)

a nice capture of the river. and, i learned a new word today lahar...and found this:
The 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo caused lahars as well, but it was due to the passing of a major typhoon over the Philippines which resulted in a torrent of volcanic ash and water down to the rivers surrounding the volcano. The lahar was caused by the mixing of settled ash and water from the monsoon which occurred the day after the volcano finished erupting. Although the eruption only killed 6 people, 1500 were killed in the resulting lahar, showing the destructive nature of lahars.
have a wonderful week.

Wonderful photo!! Isn't it a great feeling to get a good one from a moving vehicle?

I would like to make some correction on this post.

The shot was taken along the new highway Subic Clark Expressway ( SLEX) after the North Expressway.
